Starring Adrian Brody as a train conductor, an unexpected delay promises to wreck the holiday plans of all onboard. It's looking like a boring Christmas for the passengers stuck on board the H&M Lines Winter Express. I could see the frustration of the conductor when he had to announce the bad news the all the passengers. The shake head of the Asian man looks like he could see his grandson right in time when his grandson has his gift in hands. The exhale of the “pink lady” looks like she has to wait to taste her daughter a sweet slice made of copha and mixed fruit. And the upset looks of the little boy seems like he has to wait for a year to attend a blessed moment which is the desire of any kids. Kids bond with Christmas. They get a sense of the goodwill and nearly “magical” optimism the time brings. As a result, Christmas is a holiday which allows kids to value themselves as a good or bad kids, and to overlook during other times of the years. His looks made me have the feel like I would lose my graduation for my 3 years studying just like he would lose his Christmas. But the question is “Can the train's conductor save the day?”. With just construction paper, scissors, some Santa hats and his trusty assistant, Brody transforms the dining car into a worthwhile celebration that captures the spirit of Christmas. Now everyone is happy. The kid has chance to put the star on top of the pine-tree. The crew has a whole new experience about Christmas. It’s the most beautiful moment that I have seen. “Christmas is love. Christmas is joy. It’s happiness, it’s peace, it’s family, it’s feasting, it’s gift-giving, it’s beautiful and it’s red and it’s green, it’s for everyone and it can be anywhere” – My whole new definition.

Children nowadays live in a modern environment with variety of protein and calories that help them grow up healthily. However, this is also the basic deduction can contribute to childhood obesity. Children are eating too much and exercising too little so they do not burn off enough calories that they ate. I discuss this situation follow the reasons below. First of all, with fast food, soda, and technology dominating our society, it is not hard to see why childhood obesity is growing problem. Children can buy them easily and quickly with cheap price because fast food is very popular nowadays. Berger King, Wendy’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, or McDonal’s are brands that young generation prefer to hang out with their friends thanks to their decoration and services. Another reason is because parents’ lifestyles are too busy to prepare food so they tend to convenience foods. It helps them limit cooking time in order to accomplish their mountain of work. America, where the majority of worker who work the evening shift suffer from time pressure could be a good example for this statement. Another reason behind obesity in children is physical inactivity. Children nowadays spend a lot of time in television, playing video games as well as computer games. They prefer to stay at home than hang out with friends or exercise because video games bring them to another world where they can fiction characters or something like that. Furthermore, there are limited physical education classes in school today and busy parents who don’t want to send their children to activities and engage in sports because of fear about children’s safety. The last cause of obesity in children is depression. Depression makes person eat to ease the pain they are feeling. At that times, children do not care how their body are and how people think about them. They just want to stay indoors and refrain from engaging in physical sports or even converse with other individuals. Therefore, children often lost their control and mood to exercise or diet at this time. In conclusion, all the above – mentioned causes: eat too much calories, physical inactivity, and depression are the three major reasons lead to the obesity in children nowadays. To solve this issue, parents should make better good selection, make their children consume less calories and encourage them to increase physical activity by walking or engaging in sports. In this blog post, I am going to reverse the outline of my Film-Based Assignment.
Thesis Statement By being an example of indulgent parenting, Nancy and Robert enable Brennan and Dale to be financially dependent, instead of giving them the right direction to succeed in life. Topic Sentences

Argument Summary: Children are entitled to parent’s unconditional love, respect, food, especially financial support but “it’s easy for you as a parent to feel obligated to give to your child—and pretty soon, your child will grow to expect it. This can lead to parents giving much more than their kids need—and sometimes, more than their family can really afford.” Based on those information, I disagree with the way Nancy and Robert is supporting children in financially. This way directly affects not only to Brennan and Dale’s personality but also their life as a 40 years old men. Since I came to the US and got in the college, I had a really limit a definition of composition. Since then, I assume composition as a writing process combining some ideas, and research. After taking this this class (English Composition 1), I realized that I had some misunderstandings of its meaning. At first, I didn’t know what is writing motivation. That’s I got a hard time why Why I write. I found that my motivation of my writing is to express my feelings. The feelings that I can’t express by words in daily life. Then I digged into the process of writing that how can I be an effective writer. Since then, my writing started getting in my mind. Next, I have face to 3 assignment which are : Hiraeth, Academic Mindsets and Film-Based assignment. I’ve learn writing is a process that express your ideal by the way “Show don’t tell”. Which means I have to make the audience feel attach with my writing, my feeling and senses. In each assignment, I also reflected my processed to get in the question “How can I do better next time?” and it worked. I also worked with the “Rhetorical” and its five elements which are Logos, Ethos, Kairos, Pathos, Telos. It is basically the strategic used of communication. Those gave me the concept of how to contribute to strong, well-organized writing. All of these factors gave me the whole new meaning of composition. Composition is a resulting product combining elements that can compelling to the audience. It’s a work art to generate the ideas throughout the paper. Vietnam is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Asian. It is located in both a tropical and a temperate zone. It is characterized by strong monsoon influences, but has a considerable amount of sun, a high rate of rainfall, and high humidity. Vietnam was divided into two sections South and North by its own characteristics of two places. In the North, it is surrounded by a lot of mountains and sea. In other side, the South of Vietnam is surrounded by the sea. It is not have a bid different between two places. Rice and corn are grown in large numbers in here. Besides, vegetables and fruit trees are also grown a lot in the two regions. Because the North is colder than the South, so vegetables are grown more in the North. The fruits are grown more in the south. In addition, the livestock farming is highly developed in this country. For example: cattle, pigs and chickens are also raised many in Vietnam. In the North, climbing is very famous. In the South, people like going to the sea. Natural resources in Vietnam are very rich mineral. Northern Vietnam is famous for its large coal ore. Setting a goal is an easy task but maintaining to effectively achieve that goal can be challenging. Organization behavior is a course that will give me a clear understanding about business environment and employees behaviors. My family has an exporting goods business back in Vietnam and I hope to take on my family business in the near future. As a future business person, I need to comprehend about the business environment in order to run my family business. A goal I hope to accomplish for this class is to be able to answer two questions. Do I have the ability to become a great leader? Can I work well with other teammates to accomplish a goal as a team? In any kind of business, each employee has his or her own working style. Becoming a leader, I need to understand about individual or groups behave; what each employee coordinates best and what an employee struggles to perform. From then, I will able to manage and communicate in different ways to motivate my employees so they can perform effectively. Learning the concepts of ethic and unethical in business is critical; I strongly believe if I am able to recognize and I can address any unethical practices among others. Accordingly, my employees can see that the business environment they work for offers them a fair working condition and they will create an honest reputation throughout the organization. Creating a friendly working environment can help to increase the productivities among employees. Everyone has different desires, being able to understand his or her desires by learning individual’s behavior is one of the potential key a leader should have. After understanding each and every employee’s desires, matching the job structure and its benefit with employees’ values’ is also a concept in leadership requirements. More important, a leader needs to learn how to be responsive to every employee’s thoughts or concerns and take action immediately. Employees can show up to work every day but keeping them engaging and motivating to their work can be difficult. Everyone is more engaged when his or her ideas recognizes and contributes in the corporation. Lastly, learn how to evaluate and reward employees’ performance is a key to boost employee engagement; a good organization would conduct meetings to go over employees’ performance; either to give rewards or give feedbacks then set out goals to increase productivities, sales and reduce turnover.. Secondly, this class will let me collaborate in team presentation; it will help me develop and able to raise my ideas within the group. More important, the group collaboration will help to improve my responsiveness to the team and comprehend my responsibility contributing the team’s task. My personal hobby has been playing basketball for three years. The more I practice, the more I get to know it. In my opinion, basketball is not just a sport, it is a lifestyle. Except for a variety of techniques I have learned during regular practice such as shooting, dribbling, I also teach myself how to work in a team and it is what so-called Team spirits that basketball demands, etc... In term of techniques skills, I am really interested in jumping and performing a slam- dunk. No other sport than basketball that you can see a player jumping high off the ground, going around the back and through the legs, to slam dunk a ball through a round piece of metal attached to a glass bored ten feet off the ground. As you know, performing a slam dunk demand jumping skill . Not only can it helps basketball player be more effective in all-around game, it also enables them to get up above the rim and perform a dunk shot. For example, a player need to stand in the middle of the stadium to practice jumping higher and built lower leg muscles, calf muscles and feet. Basketball player needs to master jumping skill to perform the slam-dunk, which enables him to score under the right circumstance. If a basketball player performs a successful and perfect slam- dunk, all of the spectators will be excited. Also, he can take a great pride in himself . On the other hand, an unsuccessful slam dunk can cause a player a serious injury or maybe death because the pole and ring can collapse on the player's body. My memory in slam dunk when I was a sophomore in high school was the great experience that I have ever had. One time, my team had a very important match against another school. We were in the middle of the game and all of my teammates were locked by the rival players. So I dribbled and tried to turn on the heat of the game by a spectacular slam dunk. I dribbled through the center player and jumped as high as I could in the air. I brought the ball through my belly and extended my arm behind my body. When I reached the apex of my jumped, I spun my arm like a windmill and threw down the ball into the hoop like a boss. At the moment my feet touched the ground, all the spectators were clapping, cheering and screaming like I was a superstar. I felt the atmosphere being exploded by the crowd at that moment. Unfortunately, it was just one of the few shots of my entire team throughout the match and we didn't win the game. However, that was one of the best slam dunk I have ever done. The grand daddy for slam dunk is Bob Kurland whose legendary moment was “ spontaneous”. “The ball happened to be under the basket. I got it up and stuffed it in. What it was an unintentional accident. It wasn’t planned, just a spontaneous play in Philadelphia,” he said. Bob Kurland slam dunk inspired all the basketball today including me. I stopped playing basketball since I graduated from high school but this hobby has become a part of me. Going to college brought me such a huge responsibility so I could not have time to play my favorite sport. Overall, playing slam dunk to me was just enough to call “hobby”, not my future because I did not reach the physically standard to become a basketball player. In conclusion, I will keep practicing it whenever I have free time.
My English teacher used to tell me :"Learning a new language and get new personalities." Her word got in my left ear and almost went out in my right ear. Despite being ignoring what she said, her word makes sense to me. Learning English totally changed my personalities and my habits but was I really profoundly changed by it? Not until I came to the U.S to study abroad. I've been learning, discovering and speaking English ten times more when I stayed in Vietnam. My English self and Vietnamese self had become two different individuals. My Vietnamese self is friendly, social and talkative, meanwhile my English self is introverted and less confident. It might be because of the environment, the culture and the converser. Especially, when I write in English, my Vietnamese self is totally not there. The darkness overwhelms my literacy and slides my complex thoughts to limited vocabulary paths. It shapes my words to be so simple. Imagine my English writing just like when you your 76 grandpa is driving you on i95. Whenever, I write in Vietnamese, on the other hand, it's a different story. The feeling falls on my intension, leading to my emotional and logical poetry. In my opinion, bi-or multilingual people use their language in different purposes, in different domains of life with different people. Different contexts and domains create different impressions, attitudes and behaviors. For example, I have never requested a debit card in Vietnamese; I haven't apologized for hitting someone's car at night; I haven't do a research about "Hiraeth" which doesn't have a meaning in Vietnamese; I say my first words " Thank you" when someone opened the doors for me in English. I believe that I am constantly in the progress of changing and improving. Speaking and learning a new language is an excellent way to figure out what I really am and be the my appropriate individual in this world. The boy was struggling with those assignments cause the final is coming up. He took a break and realized that the library just has couple people left. Even the staffs starts packing their stuffs and cleaning the mess around the student area at 4:45 pm. It's Friday and the school will be closed shortly. He's been here at 11:05 right after he's done his Psychology class. His head still gets dizzy with those "Ego Defense Mechanism,Denial and Repression, Rationalizations,.." But he doesn't have time to think about it. He's been doing with his Math class and Spanish the whole time. It's not because he likes them. It's because the dues are coming up. I know the boy, he is one of my best friend since in Vietnam. It's good to see his hard working but it was weird at first like you see . He never can stay his ass at one place more than a 15 minutes before. He was active, good at communication and energetic. " We are young, we need to experience life before we got old" he said. But suddenly he changed when he came to the U.S. We both decided to go to study abroad together. It's good change to discover the world and experience the advance of the other better country. But he has changed a lot when he come here. He is less social because of school materials, less talk because the language barriers and become introverted . I suddenly thing about whether multilinguals have multiple personalities. Or that's a easiest way to deal with life far away from parents that to be trying our best to adopt with the new environment? Then I just realized that it's not about the answer that why he changed ? It's about trying and adopting the environment to get a better outcome. It's about that life gives us 10% what happen to us and 90% how we react to it. Then I know changing don't need reasons because of its better outcomes. " I'm done. Let's go to the Korean restaurant. I'll treat you asshole" We both smiled. My friend changed. I changed . The world changed. Have you ever heard about the True Colors test? It’s a model for understanding yourself and others based on your personality temperament. Luckily, I know I have an orange personality in my Psychology Class last semester. As an orange personality type, I have a hard time listening to others. The advantage for this type is that I would try to do it on my way or look for a new way to go for. However, there are some disadvantages for this type. Misunderstanding others can occur when I don’t listen to others such as not following the instruction properly and it can affect other people. In addition, this can leave negative impression on the speaker. This can be considered impolite and disrespectful. Some of the facts the results showed that I was not able to explain them myself was that my time management. I tense to put my act together at the right moment; I hardly try to finish my task before hand. There always has to be a motivation for me to act on something such as deadline and important events. Secondly, listening is something that the test was able to explain. For most of the time, I do listen to people when they talk. However, sometimes, I don’t take on what people say because I think that I can do something better. And sometimes, things don’t go as the way I plan but I have the experience from it and try to improve from it. Thirdly, same personality is something I cannot explain. I tense to hang out and get closed to people who share the same or similar interests as myself. I found that people who have similar interests could be easy to talk to and share feeling with rather people who have different interests and hobbies. After I got a result from the test, I found that most of them are true about myself. I am spontaneous which mean that I can act on almost any situation that needs my action right away. I take chances as I act and ready to take on the result of my actions. Secondly, I only have interest on people who have similar personalities to mine because they’re easy to share feeling with and easy to communicate with. Thirdly, I do not like working in the same routine, I try to make things different as I go and learn from the experiences. I find work that I enjoy most. |
