I was a person who really scare of writing by some ways. Writing was like a burden that I have to struggle every times to get it done. "How can I approach the ideas?" "What should I do to let audience understand my words?" " Is this idea good or reasonable?". All of these questions was flying around when I had an assignment. It should be my wrong point of view about writing. In my first blog, Why I Write I was confused because I thought I didn't like writing so who cares? I looked at some classmates blogs and I saw that people write because they have their own reason. Then I realized "Man, I need reasons to write too". I started noticing and spending more time in my writing and it's worth it. By being in this class, i've been seeing some interesting things about writing so far like " Show don't tell" " Put senses in your write " or " Distractions of your writing" and many things more. I'm telling you this is important because I don't see writing is a burden anymore! I have strategies when I write. Writing as soon as possible, listing the directions I should follow, asking people for advice,... And all of these things helps me to have more motivation to write. Because I know I'm improving. When people approach somethings, they need some motivations and interests. And I'm confident to say that I'm having both. “One day I will find the right words, and they will be simple.” Jack Kerauoc said. It's like you have to be patient to find your reason to write and that reasons might be simple but it will give a big impact in your writing. My reasons are to express my feelings, tell people about my thoughts and my feelings but I can't do it without a approach. Now I found my strategies to approach a writing topic, I will not be freaked out instead of that I will be excited. By being in this class so far, I have approach interesting topics like "Grow and Fix Mindsets" "Hiraeth" ," Film Project". Those are not only giving me more knowledge but also good topics to write about. I'll try my best the next half semester to improve ming writing.

Throughout the process, the teacher and classmates helped me a lot about the ideas to approach the assignment. To be honest, I thought Step Brother is a "weird" film to write about at first because all the curses and jokes that are not really funny in my opinions. . The most difficult parts of the process was to generate the ideas about the parenting of Nancy and Robert from all conflicts and the jokes in the movie. Because it's easy for people to get distracted by all the comedic scenes and sometimes some sexual scenes. But I jumped right into do some list that I should write about and followed that directions. Then I started reviewing what I have had in class and did some searches. This way makes me go in the right path and not get distracted by other thoughts. I think this is a good way for myself to approach an assignment from now on. I also try to write the assignment as soon as I got the assignment sheet because it gives me the feeling not getting behind to not rushing my thoughts. It was really good approach. I chose the topic about all the scene that Nancy and Robert had the wrong way of growing kids. In this way, audience can see the specific example about the wrong parenting so my writing can be more persuasive. This is about the quote " Show don't tell" that I have learned in my class. By the time I revise this assignment, I will focus on grammar and do more research to improve my thesis. I also do all this things with my tutor and ask for people advice.
This is my new six-step plans: - List all the directions should I follow in the first process and keep follow it. - Start the process as soon as possible. - Do more research to improve claims. - Be patient about writing. - Review people ideas with my ideas to get a best statement. - Ask people for help and advice. " Step brothers" is about two middle age man who are Brennan Huff (Will Ferrell) and Dale Doback (John C. Reilly) still live with their parents. They are both unemployed and lazy. Things turn to be weird when their parents get married and they live together in the same room. They humiliate and fight each other to protect their own space and personality. But adventurously, they start sharing in common things. Their competition pull their new family apart and force them to get real jobs. At the end, they finally know their real bonds between each other and work together to reunite their parents. The film is all about American jokes that I think I can understand 90%. There are a few unnecessary scenes but the rest of it is interesting and straight forward comedy. But the deeper meaning of the movie about not loosing your dream. Three of the meaning quote I gained after the movie are: Don't lose your dinosaur (Dr. Robert Doback) - The quote is about not to loose the dream Listen, I know that we started out as foe. But after that courageous act that you showed me against the one they call Derek, maybe someday we could become friends. Friends who ride majestic, translucent steeds, shooting flaming arrows across the bridge of Hemdale. - The quote shows the bonds between those two My little brother is even a bigger asshole than you are. (Brennan Huff). - The quote shows the first bond between two people used to consider each other as a opponent. The " Academic Mindset" is a project that I really like to write about. I can know more about the mindsets then I adjust myself in the positive way. During the process, it's hard to working by myself about a topic that I barely know about. I do think that working with other people is a good approach to do this project that I should have done. The hardest part in the project is to provide at least one counter-argument and rebuttal between Carol Dweck’s argument and Alfie Kohn’s argument. While both of those has a solid thesis and their own logics. I took me quite bit but i told myself to keep concentrated and follow the directions that i was given .After a period of time doing research, I finally find a counter-argument toward Alfie Kohn. I wrote it the day right after I understood entire the topic. I can't write about somethings when I don't have a complete understanding. I wrote it in my room which has a the materials that I need during the process such as: food, quiet. I think it's the best way for me to approach to access a writing process .I also did research about it that also help me to know more about the mindsets. I choose to write about my topic because it's a institution of my researches and my opinions. It has all the needed ideas. For the next revision of the academic mindset's project, I will do more research and make my thesis to be more stronger. I also will do check my grammar with appropriate word that could make my write become more professional in the reader's eyes. I will work with another the people that could give me more advices about the ideas and process to approach the ideas more easily .
I watched The Fundamentals Of Caring at home when I didn’t have nothing to do then. I got attracted right after I saw the title of it. I also saw my favorite actor in the movie who is Raul Rudd. Rudd plays Ben Benjamin, a newly-certified caretaker who begins his career taking care of Trevor Conklin, played by Welsh actor Craig Roberts. Trevor Conklin is an 18 years old man with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Ben finds the common things between Trevor and him after a short period of time after various conversation and pranks and earns Trevor’s respect. However, Ben is struggling with his wife, who wants desperately for him to sign divorce papers, and the death of his son three years prior. Ben proposes the idea of going to visit all of the landmarks even though Trevor spends all of his time in his house and has never been an hour from his house. After convincing Trevor's mother, they prepare to go on the first trip ever of Trevor’s life. Along the way, they meet Dot, played by Selena Gomez. She is wild and adventurous. She is running away from home and is hitchhiking on her way to Denver when the two men decide to let her go with them. They also meet Peaches, a pregnant woman whose car breaks down on the highway, and she comes along as well. A lot of funny things happens on the road to these people such as Trevor has his first Slim Jim ever, he has a first stand-peeing or he pretends to imitate choking to scare Ben to death. The theme of the film is about the solid relationship between parents and children, friends and friends. I was touched when I see how a disable teenager like Trevor discover the world the first time of his 18 years. He has a lot of the “first times” that only Ben can bring to him. Teaching Adolescents to Become Learners [...] (Chicago University) shows four types of academic mindset. They are belonging, growth mindset, self-efficacy, relevance/purpose. I find my mindset is relevance/purpose as this work has value for me. This mindset is relevant to a subject matter a person is studying is interesting and holds value. Value can be variously defined as the importance of doing well on a task (attainment value), gaining enjoyment by doing task (intrinsic value), or serving a useful purpose or meeting an end that is important by completing a task (utility value). I decided to go to college to get a higher education which can provide me a legit knowledge and a good job to deal with life later on which is utility value as I mentioned. I also want to enjoy the process that I know I will definitely improve at the end of the day. I am not scare even I make a mistake during the progress because I can learn from my mistake. I see that ass the intrinsic value. I think the attainment value that can be exampled from every students at college. Receiving good scores or doing well on a task are the result of the time that I learn, make mistakes and redo again and again. The award proves that I make progress and I’m going to be better. All of those things addresses that I have the relevance/purpose mind set. It’s help me to know more about myself and retrain my goals at DCCC specifically. My goals in the college to do my best so I can have a better future and to become a admired person and ethier the progress or the result I received at DCCC would help me to accomplish my goal and I enjoy it. Every people has different academic mindset but that’s all for their good and we should respect them.
In Teacher, Parents Often Misuse Growth Mindset Research, Carol Dweck Says professor Carol Dweck mentions about three conceptions that educators are misunderstand or misapply about the growth-mindset's concepts. The first one is prasing effort alone. Praising effort alone is useless when the child is getting everything wrong and not making progress, instead she advises teachers and parents to praise a child's process and strategies. Next, telling kid to try harder is similar to hollow praises of effort. Instead of nagging the student, teacher should sit down and together find out what she or he hasn't done right. The last one is repeating mindset jargon. Dweck says that many teachers have to change how they teach, offering more critical feedback and giving students opportunities to revise their work. In The Perils of "Growth Mindset Education" [...] by Alfie Kohn, she addresses about the educational system these days and its concerns. He mentions about how the current system approach the system which should be identified more than trying to fix student's perceiving. She also points out that protecting kids from failures is more better than good scores. They should be feel good about themselves anyway. People in a fixed mindset believe they either are or aren’t good at something, based on their inherent nature, because it’s just who they are. People in a growth mindset believe anyone can be good at anything, because their abilities are entirely due to their actions. I think I'm the person who has a mixture between fixed mindset and growth mindset. I always want to hide my flaws so i don't get judged. And as a international student, I minimum myself to the environment that I'm not familiar to so I just get stick to what I know to keep my confidence. I'm also think that people in a growth mindset believe anyone can be good at anything, because your abilities are entirely due to your actions. So I think I have quite a bit two of those. |
